Ever Thought of Being a Kislingbury Parish Councillor?
The time for Parish Council elections is drawing near. Kislingbury has a
maximum of nine Councillors. From 25th March nomination papers will be
available from South Northamptonshire Council offices in Towcester or our
Parish Council Clerk.
To be eligible to stand for election as a parish councillor, a candidate
must be either a British subject, a Commonwealth citizen or a citizen of the
Irish Republic. On both the day of their nomination and the election day
itself (if one is held), a candidate must also be over 21 and
· a local government elector of the parish; or
· occupied as owner or tenant and land or other premises in the parish for
the whole of the preceding 12 months; or
· had their principal or only place of work during the past 12 months in the
parish; or
· has resided in the parish or within three miles of it for the past 12
months
(For more information see http://www.polesworthvillage.org.uk/ppc/councillors_elig.html)
If you are eligible and wish to stand you need to complete nomination papers
which MUST be received by the Returning Officer at South Northamptonshire
Council offices by 12 noon on Tuesday 1st April.
If there are ten or more individuals nominated an election will be held on
1st May. If (as I understand is usually the case) there are nine or less
individuals nominated, they become the Parish Council from 5th May without
an election.
For nomination papers or further information please contact South
Northamptonshire Council officers in Towcester (contact person is Carol
Blackman, Electoral Services Officer, 01327 322121, e-mail:carol.blackman@southnorthants.gov.uk) or the Clerk to Kislingbury Parish
Council (Ann Addison).
